This week I was at a client site where we were presenting the findings of a technology review. The review had followed the consulting method. Current State Assessment -> Desired State -> Recommendations. The study had been detailed and there were many findings and a solid set of technical recommendations. We kept the presentation to 10 slides, the report had all the details, there was lots of useful discussion. They gave us more time than they had initially wanted to based on the the interest in what we had to say. All was good, but, they wanted something else.
“you have told us all of the technical answers – you have given us the options – but what is your opinion, what should we do now?”
